"Imagination and reality."
Shannon Troxler

By Elliot J. Nitkin

here are times when presenting nature in its simplest of forms is intoxicating and inspiring.  Shannon Troxler’s presentation of nature, specifically, birds is just that, awe inspiring.

Her birds look almost life like in their presentation, adorned with just a hint of the nature that would surround them in reality and put on a backdrop of colour that abstracts the reality of other aspects of the surroundings from the piece.  This focuses the eye on the almost human individuality of each animal.

It certainly brings a real connection to the piece for the viewer.

Shannon was raised on the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis, Maryland.  She is a graduate of the Schuler School of Fine Art, a classical atelier located in Baltimore Maryland. There she learned to appreciate the craft of art and the traditions of the old masters.

She now makes her home in Jackson Hole Wyoming with her husband Larry and her daughter Aviva.
