Clients: A retired couple. Design goals: To more effectively use light making the space airy. To make cleaning easier, ease of mobility, de-clutter their artisanal pieces and to become resale ready. Process: Carpeting was replaced with Luxury Vinyl Flooring for economy, durability and aesthetics. Flooring samples were brought to the client for approval. Installation took one day, complete with furniture replacement. Hall closet doors were all replaced with updated look and materials. Large flower box was removed to improve aesthetic and declutter solarium. The etageres and entertainment centre were decluttered to present the client's artisanal pieces to better effect. Five boxes of old legal documents were shredded. Several bookshelves were rearranged and books donated to reading programs. Old clothing was also donated to charities, old board games to a local community centre, decor items no longer wanted were repurposed through online contacts. TV and electrical cables were recessed into wall to create a safer environment and to add to the aesthetic. Finally, several carts of items were recycled, where no useful home could be found. |
